park city weekend

just got back into LA from a luxurious 4th of July weekend in park city! the weather was fabulous, the food amazing and the activities never ending!

on Friday night we went to my favorite local pc restaurant, Shabu. this place features contemporary asian cuisine with a funky local vibe. it is a must-do if you find yourself hungry and downtown pc.

Laurel and Olivia at Shabu

the trip was not complete without a ride down the river...the 40 degree river. excited, we all blew up our tubes and drove 45 minutes to the "floating spot" where we jumped onto our meager floats and felt the burning cold water. needless to say, the six of us, born and raised in southern california, did not last very long in the river.

Me, blowing up 1/6 rafts

Laurel, Olivia and Me, gearing up to jump in!

Tate, Olivia and Laurel making their way down the path, Brad headed down the river!

on the trip to home depot to find an air pump (which proved unsuccessful as you can see above), my sister and i found squirrel food. obviously, i was overjoyed. growing up in southern california (again), has greatly limited my experience with wild animals. we created a concoction and hung out to watch the drama that followed.

My pet squirrel!

we did manage to find some time to shop...i love shopping in pc because i can almost always find some really random FUN piece! we found a really cute theory dress/vest set that i will post pictures of asap!!

must get to bed/finish this wildly entertaining episode of america's got talent!!

alice + olivia RST2011

well now that summer has been going on for a week...all the 2011 resort wear is coming out! resort is actually a fashion season - situated right between fall/winter and spring - which seems to often be overlooked! this year's alice + olivia's resort collection is bright and wonderfully cheery! designed by Stacey Bendet, the pieces are reminiscent of the sixties and as she calls them herself, very "Jackie O". whether or not you're feeling a retro vibe, these pieces are twists on timeless shapes and i cannot wait to get my hands on them!

such a fun take on a serious silhouette this bumble-bee yellow dress is irresistible!

green, green, GREEN! A + O has managed to work a lovely pallet of lime to sage green into their latest collection!

here's to more green! love, love, love the faux fur with the skirt!

and lastly as a tribute to my love of all things retro, this GREEN trapeze tunic is my ultimate fav in this collection. also, did i mention the SHOES that these models have on. TO DIE FOR.

tucker

this weekend i was fortunate enough to get a sneak peak of the fall 2010 collection of Tucker by Gaby Basora. this flowing bohemian collection is perfect for southern california's glorious fall weather. the fall collection is inspired by french author, marguerite duras.

here are some shots from the lookbook featuring liu wen!

i love the ankle boots with stockings and all these fall previews are making me long for the windy days of november!

gaby basora has also been chosen the next designer for Target's Go International series! it appears as though the looks are due in mid-summer! can't wait!

e&j fall + lf lovers

after pouring over tons of elizabeth and james fall 2010 preview collection, i have found some MUST haves.

ANYTHING long, baggy, black and knit is an instant favorite of mine, so this striped sweater is going to find it's way into my closet asap!

also, the pea green frock is all the rage for this fall - the perfect color for those out there with red hair!

i am loving the return of puffy shoulders too! i am so excited to know that last year's shoulder poofs were not a silly purchase!

all the olive green is AMAZING! this retro green does wonders for hazel eyes too!

as the sun has been peaking out recently, i have been reminded that it is summer and i need to get myself in the swing of dressing like an ethereal princess! these looks are the ultimate summer-time dress code, thanks to LF and their fantastic stylists!

lace princesses, beautiful greenery - makes me want to take a trip up to red rock in the santa barbara mountains ASAP!

ah, the beach. love love love the retro shorts + hat. my hat collection is growing...and growing due to my preoccupation with preventing wrinkles so ill have to post some hat snapshots asap!

off to TAIKO with the parents! xx

spring!

memorial day weekend is in full swing! thermometer is up towards 80 and brad and i are settling into playing house...in the real world! i recently moved out of isla vista, a square mile of debauchery, and down to santa barbara proper, right in the middle of a quaint little patch of old fashioned-beach cottages. we love it!

there is a huge park just a block away that hosts festivals throughout the summer! cannot wait! ill make sure to document them all!

so im not a cat person...at all. but this morning i was channel surfing and happened upon these AMAZING specimens....the cornish rex. so now im in love.

these cats are so majestic -- like perfect egyptian statues! ive been reading that they are pretty hypoallergenic (perfecttttt) so im keeping my eye out for any litters out there!

alsoooo! montecito pet shop, on cliff, has new rescues in!!
they are lhasa apso mixes -- and they are ADORABLE. they would love a home :)

thats all for now! have a wonderful weekend!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! Hopefully the Easter Bunny was good to you! Mine hopped along with some Elizabeth and James blouses and of course See's scotchmallows!

Spring has sprung and with it came some peaceful pastels and enough floral prints to last until September! Here's a preview of my favs as of RIGHT now -- along with, of course, the newest Sam Edelman booties -- complete with rhinestones and studs...although I'm beginning to wane on the stud trend, a few here and there make an outfit totally memorable!

Untitled

Another thing I am in love with RIGHT now is BANDAGE. Who would have thought a dress/skirt made entirely of ELASTIC would be so hot! These little numbers sinch and squeeze in all the right places making anyone so daring as to shimmy into them look fabulous!

I have decided that I may just pack up my bags and move to Utah for the winter. Park City is the ultimate place to play in the snow for a few months and it would give me a great time to work on my snowman building (I made my first one this Christmas with my wonderful
boyfriend Brad directing the effort) I even adorned him with my faux fur Russian-esque hat!

I was quite proud of him! I've also begun to see the enjoyment of skiing much more than I ever though possible! Other than the grapefruit-sized welts on my "shankles" (where my shin meets my ankle), I was totally comfortable and even hiked up to chute 10 with my mom, my friend Karyn and our instructor, Paul. Here's a shot of what it was like -- although the lip/steep downhill isn't so obvious in the picture!

The food in Park City is unbelievably good. Over spring break we hit up all our favorite spots. My brother, Max, came in on Friday and we went to Riverhorse to celebrate with my cousin and second cousin!

That's all for right now! Enjoy the sunshine!
