NYE 2011

coat: Forever21 - dress: silence & noise (UO) - tank vest: Elizabeth & James - black tights - shoes: Forever21 - socks: LF - nails: OPI for sephora

i have come to regard NYE as a rather peaceful holiday after spending the last 3 years tucked in park city, utah.  even when brad and i went "downtown" - we mostly hung out together talking about the next year and how much we were going to ski the next day...but this year we skipped the bar scene and went to dinner with my family at a friend's house before watching the ball drop in our great room amid baileys and puzzles. i really enjoy the cozyness around the holidays and i think i have finally found the perfect way to ring in the new year with those that i care most about!! {besides the fact that i can completely avoid the inevitable hangover that follows a night of drinking...}

i came up with my new year's outfit on the fly after realizing that the temperature outside was not budging from -10 F. yeaaaaa...shocking to someone born and raised in southern california...haha but i ended up in a cozy dress comfy enough for lounging on the couch and styling 9 year old's hair. {also i found this PERFECT vintage inspired leopard coat from f21 recently and could not wait to wear it!!!}

hope everyone had an amazing night and is ready for a wonderful 2011!!! xx

pouncing tigre

jacket: what comes around goes around - tee: splendid - jeans: paige premium denim - shoes: forever 21 - bracelet: my wonderful brother

after spending christmas day on perfectly groomed runs in deer valley, i could think of no better way to close such a wonderful day than with dear friends and good food...however, i was sort of over the cutesy red/green coded clothing so i pulled out my new favorite jacket (tigerrrr, thank you momma!) and dressed it down with a black tee and jeans for a true mountain feast! hope you had an amazing day as well!! xoxo

ear feathers

tank: F21 jacket: H&M

so the spring/summer LF sale came and went and i am still lamenting a wonderful, long feather earring that i passed up {probably overlooked due to over stimulation}...  i have been so upset/desperate/frustrated that i could not find one similar to it - let alone one like it at all - that i have activated every crafty bone in my body and actually made two versions of this wonderful piece.  and just in case anyone wants to recreate my fantastic art i am posting the d.i.y.!!

you will need:
FEATHERS (the prettier the better but i had some in a vase that were about 3" and worked perfectly)
6" of suede rope (whatever color you fancy...mine sort of matches my hair)
beads (matchy-matchy is ugly so have fun with the colors)
earring backs
jumprings
krazy glue (i never actually heeded the warnings that this stuff is dangerous so watch out)

to make:
- feed the rope through a bead and the jumpring then back through the bead and glue (you can do however many beads you want - my first one had two, the second only one) -- this is the top of your earring and you can put it onto the earring back
- glue a bead on the feather about 1 cm from the tip (like the "bony" tip)
- add another bead to the bottom of the suede rope and insert the "tip" of the feather with the glued on bead into the new bead -- GLUE.

ta da!

yay! im crafty!! hope you enjoy!!! xx shoot me an email if you'd like to buy one of these lil guys!  xo

wangKO's

i have been drooling over alexander wang's black platform boots since as long as i can remember - and while i am still holding out for the real deal, once i was able to close my mouth i started a search for some knock offs. i totally HATE the idea of a knock off but hello, it makes no sense to spend $1,000 every time i fall in love with something :)

i still haven't found a perfect replica of the smooth platform lines that the real ones have but here are some of the two i have come across that may make the cut!

ALEXANDER WANG JACQUELYN BOOT $695

ALEXANDER WANG ANABELA BOOT $650

ALESHA LEATHER PLATFORM CHELSEA BOOT $117.95 asos

MINIMARKET JODPHUR WEDGE $325 urban outfitters

LEATHERETTE BOOTS $26.80 forever 21

splash!

i have sort of a hat crush - although i am not the best at wearing them (too hot, too itchy, can't see anything...blah blah blah) but the more i see them popping up in magazines and fashion editorials, the more i wanted to experiment and see if i could in fact make myself a hat person.  i found this lovely maroon hat at forever 21 and decided that for $15 dollars i would start with a floppy felt hat.  I LOVE IT!  i feel so put together and grown up wearing it -- besides the fact that it makes me laugh at the threat of rain (haha, no raindrops on me!).  i would definietly say that a hat is a must have for these next few weeks (even if you do live in southern california...).  tell me what you think!!

hat: maroon felt FOREVER21 - tee: american apparel boatneck - jeans: black true religion - boots: cream modern vintage

how are you guys feeling about hats this season!?!  have to run but happy FRIDAY!!  xx

spotted

im in LOVE with my newest cloth-quisition (get it, clothing + acquisition??) haha, but really.  after seeing this scarf/blanket/sweater/gigantic wonderfulness sprouting up on some mannequins, i searched until i found it (well, found it for less than $100) and pounced.  besides being the absolute perfect enormous size (bigger = better in way of outwear for me), it is LEOPARD print!!!  holy cow, this is a MUST HAVE!! check it outtt!!

shoes: F21 zipper booties - pants: 7 for all mankind cameo green cargos - tee: Elizabeth&James - scarf: URBAN OUTFITTERS blanket/shawl

yes, that is my poor bike from iv - no, i have not touched it since moving in - the vines are even starting to wrap around in the basket and i have grown quite fond of how sort of country-chic it makes the backyard - for duke of course. ha!!

booty time

i am very excited to announce that i wore boots all day today!  that, in my mind, makes it definitively fall.  it's even supposed to rain on wednesday!  ohh so happy!  along with my boots i pulled out a faux fur vest and because the sun was peeking through - i stuck with my tank-top so i was not a sweaty mess for my first TA session of the quarter.  here are some outfit pics!!

faux fur vest: F21 - grey tank: LF - black jeans: true religion (via mommy's closet) - brown boots: steve madden (these also sometimes look grey)
duke didn't like the camera...bahaha, at least we match! x
