weekender

some of my favorites from solestruck's weekender ss11 lookbook.  if i could stop drooling i would make a prioritized list of "to buy"...but i can't and right now they all sound so good. i can happily say though that my wonderful boyfriend has finally begun to think like me and gifted me some of these - which was/is amazing. i am teaching him well :)

enjoy more here.

FNOLA

friday was FASHION'S NIGHT OUT (LA style) and my mom and i went out and perused Robertson Boulevard before heading to Neiman Marcus for some pampering! the streets were CRAZY with people shopping and hanging out in the festivities!

our first stop was to Paige Denim, where we bought some jeggings (our ultimate favorite) and hung out with the most adorable pooch! then it was off to Intermix, where we scooped up some FNOLA tees, and Alice + Olivia, which would have made my sister's head spin! there was a hypnotic cocktail bar and an entire TABLE full of bin candy with little bags to make little goodie bags! (sooo cute and we totally would have made ourselves some but i made myself sick on cotton candy salt water taffy and my mom did the same on sour grapefruit chews, so we left it for the kiddies!) then we headed to Tory Burch where my mom's wonderful sales guy, Andre, had a jacket waiting for her! after we nixed the jacket and munched on mini cupcakes we hightailed it to Neiman Marcus where we finished off the night amid couture gowns and photo ops! (we missed the fashion show, but oh well)  on our way back we tried to eat at taiko, but it had closed literally two minutes before we got there so we headed home and noshed on leftover pizza and sorbet! all in all, a fantastic night! we cannot wait for next year's!!

winter#7

i need to put a disclaimer on this post - thus far in my blogging career i have yet to do an outfit post - which is something pretty standard for a fashion blogger to do - and i have to start this first one with some words about how awkward this whole process actually is.

generally - i love what i am wearing. i love everything down to the rings on my fingers - and my whole body is a collection of things that i think work wonderfully together - that being said - this is not the first set of "outfit post" pictures i have taken. i find that clothes, other than on models, look considerably better in motion - not staged and stiff.

anyway, these pictures were taken at a bed & breakfast in idyllwild, ca. this little town is a quaint mountain get-a-way (if you had a friend/boyfriend in tow) although fairly remote.  there is no cell phone service (cringe) but bountiful internet sources.  i think i am significantly more comfortable somewhere i can run to CVS and/or Starbucks at all hours of the night - but if you're into the wilderness - this is the place to be.

MAXI MAXI MAXI skirts = all the rage!

fall boot frenzy

as much as i love the sticky heat of summer, i cannot wait for the fall. i have so much anticipation that i have been boot shopping. yes, i will not be able to wear these babies for a few months but just knowing that they are in my closet waiting for me is reassuring.

these boots, maryn by steven for steve madden, are beautiful. they come in three colors - stone grey, cognac and black leather. my eyes went straight to the "grey" because in reality they are actually a shade of brown which will easily match with jeans, black pants and even a brown sweater.

i love the zipper detail in the back - it is a working zipper too so there are endless ways to wear them! also, it's not super apparent in the pictures - but the whole calf portion is folded over - an interesting design that makes these boots not only great for sipping some cocktails but also just lounging around on a rainy day!!

these torin booties by sam edelman are fabulous. i spent quite a long time just staring at these beauties and actually had a dream about them last night - they are PERFECT for the nighttime in southern cali! they are tall enough to distinguish from the booties from fall 2009, which were more ankle height.

gahhh wonderful and match EVERYTHING that is in my closet. im thinking even some black knit socks and skinny jeans?

obsessions

here are some of my absolute favorite pieces of 2010 so far! i absolutely love taylor momsen, her heroin chic look reminds me of courtney love's better days. also, i've included my go-to shoes for this season, the sam edelman ZOE booties! these babies go with everything in my closet and i've found myself wandering the streets in them both day and night.
my favorite things 3/10
of course, the jeffery campbell TICK booties are at the top of my list too. mine are all alone in manhattan beach now but fortunately one of my roommates lent me hers for a bday party friday night. this same friend rocked the american apparel LBD downtown the other night and looked absolutely gorgeous!

enough procrastination for one night, back to studying for me! ill be back soon!!
